There were 56 million radios and only
16,000 TV sets in the U.S. in the year
1945. There were only a few shows
on TV in 1946 and 1947. RCA mass
produced a 7 inch TV set in 1947 and
170,000 sold. One million sets were
sold by the year 1949. In 1950 there
were approximately 10 million TV sets in the
U.S., and by the year 1956 3/4 of all
Americans had a TV set in their homes.
Television will never ever be the
same as it was in the Fabulous Fifties!
